Mark Burgess and the Rise of the Social Employee @TEDx

Mark Burgess and the Rise of the Social Employee
“Ninety percent of people don’t trust traditional ads…they trust their social networks,” Mark Burgess said as he delivered his first TEDx Talk on the Rise of the Social Employee, last month at the 2014 TEDxNavesink event in Red Bank, New Jersey.  But just who is this “social employee?”

First, Mark is the co-author of The Social Employee, founder and President of Blue Focus Marketing, and has instructed courses @UCIExtension. In his talk, Mark MarkBurgessTedXdefines what it is to be a social employee.  He suggests that a social employee contains several elements including: 1) An empowered employee and 2.) Someone highly skilled in social media integration, both personal and professional.

MarkBurgessTedX2Mark also gives some valuable advice for today’s businesses and employees alike.  With the research to back it, Mark asserts that a social employee has an organic and sincerely raw way to market to their social networks.  In addition, he stresses that through social media, people are successfully building their personal brand, and their personal portfolio of skills, and thus, their employability.

Please take a moment to listen to Mark’s thoughts on the social employee at the TEDx Talk .

In some of his final thoughts, Mark tells his audience that: “The rise of the social employee is a win/win for companies and for our personal brands as together we reimagine the future of business.”  We couldn’t agree more.
